It will get easier to break free as they are weakened but the longer you wait the more damage the Reckoning can inflict. This will let you fight back for some of your former empire and bring them back into the fold before they are permanently destroyed. Make the Reckoning a real threat, affected by the crisis slider and give it juggernaut capabilities to pump out shroud ships and Colossus fire planets into Shrouded worlds. T6 sensors can only be added to ships and citadels, not outposts. Reckoning and each Anchor spawns shroud ships, invisible without new T6(psi/enigmatic) sensors. As the Reckoning conquers more space it shrouds worlds and adds to its territory, divided into sectors with one Anchor each. Homeworld is now under the Reckoning's control with an Anchor style starbase(wormhole visual imo). Your former empire(minus homeworld and Exile) is now your overlord.
